This is a grand hotel with a lot of history located on the Dam square, the heart of Amsterdam. 080908JG. This is a traditional hotel with large red and white awnings which consist of 3 separate buildings. The large lobby is shared between the main building and the conference centers and is beautifully decorated in traditional style with chandeliers, easy chairs, dining/coffee tables and sofas. The standard rooms are located in the main building and are medium to large in size. They are modern in style with traditional touches, and along with the bathrooms are in very good condition. The business rooms, which are located in the court wing, are decorated with dark furnishings and fabrics whereas the executive rooms in the royal wing are very modern with marble effect bathrooms. This is very grand and elegant with a high glass ceiling and surrounding palm trees. Both breakfast and lunch are served here. There is also a Japanese restaurant which is a gastronomic restaurant decorated in rich gold colours. 1 km to the nearest station (centraal station), 20 kms to the nearest airport (schiphol), 5 km to the nearest fair site (rai), 7 minute walk to the nearest bus stop, 7 minute walk to the nearest metro station (nieuwmarkt). |
