If you do not mind to travel by metro or bus every morning and night it is very practical. It is a little bit isolated from the touristic area. The room is a little bit too basic, specially the bed. The breakfast is good but I would add some fruit selection. The attention of the personal is excellent. There is a point to check your emails, but not free browsing to all the possible accounts you can have; there are only the most common ones, i.e., yahoo, gmail (it did not work for me), hotmail.

Parking is not very convenient. Wireless Internet too expensive.

Casa 400 doubles as a hotel in the summer months but is essentially a dormitory for students in the winter. This is quite obvious when you enter the hotel as well as the room. If you are looking for a good quality hotel then do not go here. If you are looking for a base to explore Amsterdam on the cheap then casa 400 is the place. It's 10 mins by metro from downtown amsterdam. Has shower/bathroom and very small beds and very very small tv. reception is staffed by very nice and helpful multi-lingual Europeans. most of the occupants in the place are back-packers or tourist groups from China.

Food, etc was very good, and the staff were very professional and helpful. Internet access was abysmal. There was a noticeable aroma of non-cleanliness in the room. The beds were terrible. Unless you are dead tired there is very little chance for sleep. The rooms are like living in a college dorm. Access from the underground was very good. It is easy to get to anywhere in the city. The ammenities available at the nearby metro station were very good for food, cash, directions, help, etc. Great place for the youth, but low quality of room, including TV programming make keeping up with world events difficult, make it not attractive for more mature audience.
